Women Rock 10K Recap

Needless to say… I “ROCKED” IT! :)

6.34 miles / 1:03:36 / 10:02 avg pace (Garmin) 

The conditions involved 4 hours of sleep, 65 degree temps, 90% humidity, and a bladder that needed to pee. The second half of the course had a ton of hills, but somehow I still managed NEGATIVE splits!! I am baffled. 

I walked a little bit at the 3 water stops, and about 0.15 total at the top of hills. Yes, at the TOP of them. My ankles and shins are a little sore, but that’s it!

Mile 2 - 10:22
Mile 3 - 10:17
Mile 4 - 9:50
Mile 5 - 9:50
Mile 6 - 9:39
Mile 0.34 - 8:39 pace

Official 10K time was 1:08:39 and I’m sadly irritated. I know for a fact that’s wrong because it says the race started at 7:37am and I didn’t cross the start line until 7:42am per my Garmin. I’m sticking with what my watch said. Stupid technical difficulties. 

All in all, a great race! Also walked about 3 miles extra around the race festivities. Once my friend was done, I had to run (err, speed walk) back to her car to get our ID’s, and then we enjoyed a bit o’ champagne! Yes… before 10am. That’s why we run, duh.
